Happy Mew Year’s Day for Cats

Happy New Year! Are you starting out 2019 with a feline buddy on your lap… or at your feet? If so, you’ll want to add a kitty holiday to your new 2019 calendar: tomorrow is Happy Mew Year’s Day for cats! Read on as a local Aurora, CO vet offers tips on helping Fluffy start the new year on the right paw.

Fluffy’s Resolutions

Your furry pal may have her own goals in mind for 2019. Fluffy may decide to spend more time on your lap, or try to leave a bit less fur on your belongings. She may also try to beat her previous napping records, figure out how to get rid of the dog, or master that tricky pounce/jump combination.

Pet Care Goals

One of the many things that we love about Fluffy is the fact that she is a fairly easy keeper. However, your feline pal does still need good care in order to truly thrive. Offering your cat good, high-quality kitty food will go a long way towards keeping her healthy. Fluffy will also need fresh water and a clean litterbox. Proper veterinary care is also very important. Cats should be fixed, microchipped, and kept current on their vaccinations, exams, and parasite control products. Ask your vet to recommend a specific appointment schedule.

Safety

A few simple precautions can really go a long way when it comes to pet care. We strongly recommend keeping your furball safe and sound indoors. Kittyproofing is also important, especially with young, frisky cats. Remove anything that could be dangerous, such as toxic plants, small or sharp items, and plastic bags and wrappers.

Keeping Kitty Purring

Small touches will help keep your furball happy and content. Provide your kitty with lots of toys to play with. Catnip mice are great, but you can also opt for more modern options, like catnip bubbles. A good view will also keep your feline friend entertained and content. Last but not least, spend lots of time with your cute pet. Talk to her, pet her, and just let her snuggle up with you. Kitty cuddles can be a purrfect way to start the new year!
