Surgery

Your pet needs surgery.

These four simple words can strike fear into the heart of any caring pet parent. You probably have dozens of questions and even more concerns. Will your companion be in a lot of pain? Will the surgery go as planned? Will we get the results we want? Will the recovery period be difficult?

If you’ve just learned that your pet needs an operation and you’re struggling with these questions and concerns, there’s no need to worry. Not when you’ve got the experienced, compassionate team at Aspen Commons Animal Hospital in your corner!

Our hospital features a state of the art surgical suite in which our doctors regularly perform a broad range of surgical procedures, both routine and complex. We use only the safest and most effective techniques along with cutting edge equipment and technology to ensure that our patients always receive the highest level of care. Rest assured that we’ll do everything within our power to ensure that your pet’s surgery is a complete success!

Before Surgery

Prior to performing any surgical procedure on your pet, we will carefully examine and screen them to ensure that we are aware of any potential risk factors. The better prepared we are ahead of time, the smoother the process will go, from start to finish. Once we’ve determined that your pet is healthy enough to proceed, we’ll develop a customized pain management plan that will keep your pet comfortable while also minimizing risk as much as possible.

During Surgery

When you arrive to drop your pet off the morning of surgery, we will greet you both warmly and get your loved one checked in. Our team will spend as much time as necessary making your pet feel comfortable and at ease. Once settled in, we will administer the pain medication, closely monitoring your pet’s wellbeing and speaking soothingly to them as they drift off into safe sedation.

Once the anesthesia has taken effect, the doctor will begin the surgery, working diligently and with great precision to achieve the best possible results. Our care team will be on hand at all times to assist with surgery and to continue to monitor your pet using the most modern and highly effective equipment on the market.

Some of the surgeries we are able to perform in-house include, but are not limited to:

  • General Surgery
  • Oral Surgery
  • Endoscopic Surgery
  • Laser Surgery
  • Laparoscopic Surgery
  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Ophthalmic Surgery

After Surgery

Once the procedure is complete, your loved one will be carefully relocated to our quiet recovery area. There, our team will keep a close eye on them as the anesthesia begins to wear off. Someone from our office will reach out to you to explain how the surgery went, discuss an noteworthy findings and arrange a pick up time. In most cases, surgical patients are able to go home the same day as their procedure.

Once you return home with your pet, should any questions or concerns arise about the after care instructions or the recovery process in general, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We want to make the entire process a smooth and positive one, including helping your companion get back on his or her feet again as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Finding out your pet needs surgery can be a frightening time. With the team at Aspen Commons Animal Hospital on your side, it doesn’t have to be. We’ll have your loved one fixed up and on the path to a full and speedy recovery in no time!
